NAIGC Nationals has come to an end and your Longhorn Gymnasts are back in Austin. The short trip to Fort Worth allowed for several of our family members and friends to come support us, and we thank y’all very much! The competition went extremely well for us, with several gymnasts hitting routines like never before. The men’s team fought for every skill and their energy levels were contagious. Though they did not qualify for Finals, they placed 10th out of 17 teams and collectively had one of their best performances of the season. We are very proud of they way they represent Texas Gymnastics!
On the Women’s side, we split into three levels for Nationals. Our Level 6 team, comprised of only four ladies, placed 9th out of 16 teams! Each of them competed a brand new event during the competition, and though there was only four they had the presence of an army out there and definitely did not go unnoticed. The Level 8 team qualified for Finals, and placed 7th out of 57 teams nationwide! Catherine V. and Nicole V. qualified for Finals on the Level 8 side, and their performances did not disappoint. Catherine was just shy of reaching the top 10 on Uneven Bars, and Nicole earned 4th Place. Nicole also earned 7th on Vault and 3rd All-Around. Jacqueline, our Women’s Team Captain, competed in the Level 9 division and closed out her Senior year the best way possible. She qualified for Finals in Uneven Bars and All Around, and during the competition had the whole team running back and forth across the gym to watch both her and the Level 8 Team. This was her first time competing Level 9 at Nationals, and came home with a 4th Place title on Uneven Bars and a 3rd Place trophy in All-Around!
To our National Team members, thank you for your continuous dedication and sportsmanship this season. You all represent Texas Gymnastics, The University of Texas, and the Texas Gymnastics Conference extremely well and we are proud of you. To our graduating Seniors, we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for one final season, and you will be truly missed by all.
Thats All for Now, Folks!
